Bring what you already know
- Your priorities: a moment you would like to become easier—asking for help, being understood, making a choice or joining an activity.
- Familiar examples: what happened, who was there, how your child communicated and what support helped.
- Existing reports: relevant documents you already have. Ask the centre what is useful for this appointment.
- Your questions: write them down if that helps. Teacher observations can add another everyday perspective.
Confirm these details with the centre
- Who will conduct the assessment, their qualifications and the communication languages available.
- The appointment time and approximate duration. The current service guide describes about one hour, depending on your child.
- How you can participate, and how the visit can accommodate your child’s communication, comfort and breaks.
- What the written report will contain, when it will be ready and how findings will be discussed.
- Any recommended next steps, alternatives, ongoing therapy fees and schedule before enrolment.
