The main difference between articulation and phonological disorders is that articulation disorders affect the production of individual sounds, while phonological disorders affect more than one sound

Articulation disorders:

These disorders affect the motor functions required to make certain speech sounds. Symptoms include mispronouncing words, difficulty saying syllables, and leaving out or adding sounds. For example, a child with an articulation disorder might not be able to form the sound "th" and always use "f" instead.

Phonological disorders:

These disorders affect the ability to put sounds together correctly. Symptoms include using incorrect speech patterns, such as dropping the first or last sound of a word or replacing certain sounds for others. For example, a child with a phonological disorder might be able to make the sound "d" on its own, but when they try to say a word that starts with "d," they might swap it out with a "g".
