Speech- language pathologists( SLPs) with applicable training contribute to the communication and swallow assessment and operation of cases with tracheostomy tubes or ETTs, both with and without mechanical ventilator dependence, in cooperation with an interprofessional team. A tracheotomy is a surgical procedure that involves an incision in the trachea and placement of a tube to produce an artificial airway. A tracheostomy is the opening( tracheostoma) into the trachea created by the tracheotomy through which the tracheostomy tube can be fitted. Tracheostomy tubes can also be fitted using a fashion called percutaneous dilation tracheostomy. A tracheostomy tube is a crooked tube fitted into the tracheostoma to maintain an airway. An ETT is a tube that is fitted through the mouth that passes through the oral crowds into the trachea to maintain an airway. Some tracheostomy cases, and utmost ETT cases, bear mechanical ventilation, a form of ventilation that uses a machine to help deliver oxygen to a case. This machine may also help remove carbon dioxide. Cases have different exploits in the type and strictness of communication and swallowing difficulties due to the wide variety of medical conditions that may bear a tracheostomy( with or without mechanical ventilation). substantiated assessment and operation bear interprofessional collaborative practice. A tracheostomy team may include( but is not limited to) an otolaryngologist, a pulmonologist, a respiratory therapist, babysitters, and an SLP. This team may consult with fresh professionals(e.g., physical therapists and occupational therapists) as necessary. SLPs may have to plump for their addition on armies in installations where their moxie with trach/ articulation cases is underutilized(S.D. Davisetal., 2021; Freeman- Sandersonetal., 2011). Positive case and health care organizational issues including reductions in cannulation times, shorter duration to communication, sanitorium length of stay, adverse events, and cost of care — have been realized when cases with tracheostomy are managed with a multidisciplinary team approach( Bonventoetal., 2017; Brenneretal., 2020; Chorneyetal., 2021; Ninanetal., 2023; Whitmoreetal., 2020).
