*Late language emergence* also called as late talker, occurs when there is a delay in onset of language  but there is no other disabilities or delays in motor or cognitive development.LLE will be diagnosed when toddlers do not produce or comprehend language at the expected rate for their age
Cause for this is unknown 

General Risk Factors for late language emergence includes 
Gender,boys are more at risk
Lower birth weight 
Premature ( babies born at less than 37 weeks)
Family history of late talkers

Late talker or kid with late language emergence will show following characteristics:
•Delayed vocabulary acquisition: fewer than 50 words by 24 months of age
•2-word combinations by 24 months of age is absent 
•Doesn’t use effective gestures to communicate 
•Difficulty with language comprehension
•Uses short phrases in place of sentences(MLU)
•Slow development of sentence structure
•Articulation development delay
 •Phonological errors will be present
