Definition:-
Functional cognition” identifies difficulty in performing real world tasks or the degree to which existing tests are empirically related to measures of everyday functioning.
Types:-
Cognitive functions, including memory, attention, language, decision making, and problem-solving, are mental processes that help people gather and process information
Signs and symptoms:-
-Losing track while doing things,for example walking into a room and forgetting what u went in there for
- Going blank for example finding u suddenly can't recall a pin or phone number
- Mental fuzziness sluggishness or mental fatigue
- Losing track during conversations
- Frequently miss placing things like ur keys or phone
- Forgetting periods of time even though u have kept going on autopilot
- Forgetting details from films books or past holidays
- Forgetting a word that seems on the tip of the time
Diagnosis:-
Cognitive Diagnostic Assessment (CDA) is a type of educational assessment that is designed to measure specific knowledge structures and processing skills in students so as to provide information about their cognitive strengths and weaknesses
Treatment:-
- Physical activity, cognitive training and exercises, proper sleep, and relaxation techniques.
- The Mediterranean diet may help people with cognitive impairment.
- Occupational therapy focuses on teaching different patient strategies to minimize the effect of cognitive impairment on daily life.
